UMKC TRACK & FIELD: Track & Field With Solid Performances at Brian Clay Invite & Mt. Sac Relays‏

(Azuza, Cal.) – The ‘Roos finished up their weekend of competition at the Mt. Sac Relays and Bryan Clay Invitational in California. Bryce Miller had a stand out performance in the men’s 5000-meter run with his second place finish—a career best, first in the WAC, and the UMKC school record. Among the large competition, the ‘Roos were able to run a couple of career bests as well as earn spots in UMKC’s all-time record book.

At the Bryan Clay Invitational, Courtney Frerichs grabbed eighth place in the women’s 1500-meter run recording a time of 4:22.40. For the men, Taylor Wardall ran the 1500 meters in 3:50.02.

Running a season best in the women’s 800m was Brooke Guiot with her final time of 2:13.95 minutes.

Four Kangaroos competed in the 5000-meter run. For the women, Chandler Carreon ran the race in 17:53.31 minutes. On the men’s side, Bryce Miller grabbed second place, running his career best of 14:20.69. Miller’s time is now the record holder for the men’s 5000-meter at UMKC. Also to earn spots in UMKC’s all-time was Nathan Keown and Jason Fambrough with times 14:48.25 and 14:50.05, respectively. Both of these times rank second and third all-time in school history.

Sarah Fogarty and Gabrielle Penaflor ran in the women’s 3000-meter steeplechase with times of 10:58.73 and 11:57.58, respectively. Fogarty’s time is a career best.

At the Mt. Sac Relays, Kelly Carpenter grabbed an astounding eighth place out of her heat for the women’s 10,000-meter run. She recorded a final time of 35:50.28 minutes which now ranks first in the WAC.
