UMKC track and field men’s runner Bryce Miller competed solo at the Stanford Invitational in Stanford, California, where he ran in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, the event he earned second team All-America honors in 2015.
Miller, a junior from Ashland, Wisconsin, took a redshirt in the indoor season, but wasted no time getting back into top form, as he set a personal record in the 3,000 steeple in his first meet of the 2016 outdoor season with a time of 8:43.81.
Not only was the time a personal-best for Miller, but it marks a new school record, as his previous best time marked the best in UMKC history. The new time was more than a second faster than the old record, and is now 25 seconds faster than the next closest time in the Kangaroo record books.
Miller and the ‘Roos take to Saint Louis for the next team meet, the SLU Invitational on March 8 and 9 hosted by Saint Louis University.
