UMKC goalkeeper Nina Tzianos put the bow on an outstanding 2014 campaign with a pair of all-region honors as announced this week by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.
The Lindbergh HS (St. Louis, Mo.) product was a third team All-West Region selection after setting school single-season records for save percentage (.851) and goals against average (0.84), while tying her own marks for wins (12) and shutouts (8). She also built upon existing career records for wins (28), save percentage (.806), goals against average (1.12), and shutouts (20).
Tzianos, a junior, made it a clean sweep for regional honors on Thursday, when she also picked up NSCAA Scholar All-North/Central Region recognition for her performance in the classroom. The 3.72-student was a second team selection.
Tzianos was a first team All-WAC selection. After shutting out previously unbeaten Creighton, Tzianos was named WAC Defensive Player of the Week and College Sports Madness National Defensive Player of the Week for Sept. 15-21.
