The UMKC men’s tennis squad jumped out to an early advantage and never looked back on Saturday afternoon in its first road dual of the season at Omaha, taking a 7-0 victory.
The Roos (3-0) won all three doubles matches, with the closest one coming at No. 2, but Uldis Gaismins and Andrey Smirnov took a 6-4 win to seal the doubles point.
In singles play Omaha (3-4) didn’t have a chance, as UMKC put it out of reach with straight set wins in the first five matches to put it at 6-0. The final match at No. 2 was forced into a third set tiebreak, but Gaismins came out on top with a 10-6 final tiebreak in lieu of the third set.
UMKC will continue its road swing with a contest against Nebraska Sunday at 3 p.m.
