Interview with Philander Smith Head Women’s Basketball Coach Brandon Greenwood

Coach Greenwood is entering his fifth season with the Philander Smith College athletic administration, currently serving as the Head Women’s Basketball Coach. However, this is Coach Greenwood’s 11th year coaching college and elementary school basketball.

Greenwood joined the PSC athletics administration during his fifth year of undergraduate studies as a Graduate Assistant with the Panther Basketball team. During the 2008-2009 season, he was hired as the Men’s Assistant Basketball coach for Philander Smith College. Soon after (2009), he became the PSC Women’s Basketball Coach. His responsibilities at Philander includes: recruiting, scouting, teaching, game film exchange, weight program implementation, and on the court coaching.

Over the years, he has also taken time to give back to his community by working various basketball camps which have allowed him to gain the valuable knowledge necessary to shape the coach that he has become today. Greenwood also works as a coach for Terry Elementary, where they have won three back-to-back basketball championships.

Greenwood a Little Rock, Arkansas native graduated from Little Rock Central High School where he was a member of a state championship team. He was offered and accepted a full basketball scholarship to Philander Smith College where he lettered four years.

Greenwood earned a Bachelor of Arts in Physical Education Health Recreation from Philander Smith College in 2004, and is currently pursuing a Master of Arts in Sports Psychology from Argosy University and will graduate in the spring of 2013.

Greenwood and his fiancée, Natalie Madison, have a son-Brandon Greenwood, Jr.
