Entering his 8th year at the helm. Coach Thomas C. Henderson, known as “Coach Hendo” here at HT has created a buzz for the men’s basketball program. Winning games are now an expectation prior to previous years. Winning just three games before his arrival, Coach Hendo has taken the men’s basketball program to two consecutive Red River Conference tournament appearances (2019,2020) and experience their first winning season in nine years in 2019. During his seven years, he has produced twenty all-conference players and five All-American.

Previously he was the Assistant Coach at St. Thomas University in Houston, TX. In the Celts’ fourth season of intercollegiate competition, the men’s basketball team collected a program-best 27 wins and a bid to the national tournament. He has also coached four High schools including Ellison HS (Killeen, TX.), Manor (Manor, TX.), Wheatley HS (Houston, TX.) and Reagan HS (Houston, TX.) Henderson has been awarded Coach of the Year twice in 2007 and 2012. Coach Henderson has a Master’s in Education Administration and a Bachelor’s of Science in Exercise Sports and Science.

Coach Henderson says he is “blessed to have worked and studied under many great coaches. I not only learned about coaching, but I learned about the role a coach plays in helping to educate young people for a world outside of school. I’ve experienced failures that have allowed me to learn the value of persistence and patience.”
