TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) — Former Alabama football player Jonathan Taylor is no longer a student at the university after his arrest on domestic violence charges.
University spokeswoman Deborah Lane said Thursday in a statement that Taylor “is not eligible for re-admission” to Alabama.
Alabama coach Nick Saban dismissed Taylor from the team on Sunday, a day after he was arrested for assaulting a 24-year-old woman. The woman later recanted her accusations that Taylor hurt her, and she was charged with False Reporting to Law Enforcement.
Tuscaloosa Police Lt. Kip Hart said Wednesday that the charges against Taylor will be reviewed.
The 6-foot-4, 335-pound lineman was dismissed from Georgia in July 2014 following his arrest on aggravated assault and family violence charges for allegedly punching and choking his girlfriend. That case is still pending.
