UMKC Men’s Golf: Tucker Continues To Lead Entering Final Round Of WAC Championship
Mitch Tucker continues to hold the individual lead after two of three rounds of play at the 2015 WAC Championship with a second round 71 that pushed him to -5 overall at the Wigwam Golf Course in Litchfield Park, Ariz.
After his second straight round under par, the Oskaloosa, Iowa, native holds the lead by two shots over Grand Canyon’s Alex Kline, while teammate Antoine Rozner is three shots back in third spot at -2.
Although Tucker fell short of his first round 68, the ‘Roos lone senior continued to do damage on the course on Tuesday, posting seven birdies, including back-to-back on both the par-5 1st and par-4 2nd and the par-4 9th and the par-5 10th. For the second straight day, Tucker carded birdies on the 1st, the 9th and the 12th.
Rozner, meanwhile, continued his steady play, shooting par on 15 of the course’s 18 holes, while tallying his lone birdie on the par-5 4th.
Cameron Wiltse rebounded from an opening round 80 with a second round 74, including his lone birdie on the par-4 8th, that vaulted him into a tie for 28th, while teammate Jack Hermeston is two shots better in a tie for 25th with his round two 77 highlighted by an eagle on the par-5 14th.
A second round 80 from Thibault Vieilledent, meanwhile, has the Frenchman one shot back of Wiltse in a tie for 32nd.
As a team, UMKC slipped to seven shots behind leader New Mexico State, but will look reclaim the lead from second spot on Wednesday.
The Blue & Gold will wrap-up play tomorrow morning when they tee-off in the third and final round of play at the WAC Championship.
