UMKC Women’s Golf: Seniors’ 75’s Lead ‘Roos On Opening Day Of WAC Championship‏
Seniors Susan Kirschenman and Micah Radler led the Missouri-Kansas City women’s golf team on the opening day of play in the 2015 WAC Championship at the Wigwam Golf Course in Litchfield Park, Ariz., as each shot a first round 75 to lead the ‘Roos to a third place standing entering the second round.

Sitting at +3 in a tie for eighth, the Huxley, Iowa, native Kirschenman shot a 41 on the front nine, but came back strong on the back nine, parring the first two holes before ripping off four straight birdies from the 12th through the 15th. Radler, meanwhile, carded a pair of birdies in round one, including one on the par-3 5th and her second on the par-5 13th.

Three shots back, teammate Maria Henao sits in a tie for 15th after a back nine that was highlighted by the freshman’s two first day birdies on the back-to-back par-4’s of 14 and 15.

Sophomore Mackenzie Black and Abbey Campbell round out the UMKC lineup, firing rounds of 79 and 80, respectively. Black notched her lone birdie on the day’s first hole, the par-4 1st to rank tied for 19th, while Campbell tallied hers on the par-3 12th and sits tied for 25th.

New Mexico State holds the team lead in the event at +4, six shots better than Seattle, while the Redhawks Alexus Song is the individual leader at -2.

The Blue & Gold will be back in action again tomorrow morning at 9 a.m. CT when they tee-off in the second round of play at the Wigwam Golf Course.
