Four ‘Roos carded their lowest round of the tournament on the final day of play as the Missouri-Kansas City women’s golf team climbed to a strong sixth place showing out of 21 teams in the spring opening GCU Invitational at the Wigwam Golf Course in Litchfield Park, Ariz.
Susan Kirschenman and Abbey Campbell led the Kangaroos on the final day of play and in the tournament as the duo finished back-to-back in 21st and tied for 22nd, respectively after each shot 74’s in the final round. Kirschenman carded two birdies in round three, on the par-3 12th and the par-4 14th, and Campbell added one on the par-4 7th.
In her UMKC debut, Maria Henao fired a final round 77 to finish tied for 26th with a birdie on the par-3 12th and an eagle on the par-4 7th.
Kailee Kuehn also shot a 77 in round three to place her in a tie for 61st, adding a lone birdie in the final round on the par-5 4th, while Mackenzie Black tied for 71st after a final round 83 that featured a pair of birdies.
Playing as an individual, meanwhile, Micah Radler carded the ‘Roos third round of 74 on the day with a birdie on the par-4 3rd, closing out the event in a tie for 22nd.
UC Riverside finished as the wire-to-wire champions in the event by eight shots over host and WAC foe Grand Canyon, while the Lopes’ Charlotte Jaengit was the individual medalist at +1.
The Blue & Gold will be back in action again on Mar. 13-15 in the Rio Verde Golf Invitational.
